Welcome To Our Safari Blog
For our upcoming 25th anniversary, we decided to do something a little different. After looking into several types of trips - from cruises to trips to southeast Asia or Egypt - we settled on an African safari. Research on safari tour companies led us to Thomson Safaris (more on them later).
This blog chronicles our adventure, from the planning to the packing to the trip itself. We've included some tips and things wee learned that might help others thinking about a safari vacation. Most of all, it includes photos of the many incredible sights we encountered along the way.
We hope you enjoy it!
About Our Trip
Last year, when discussing our upcoming anniversary, Michele and I agreed that we wanted to do something out of the ordinary to celebrate. We considered a trip to Egypt to see the Pyramids. We also looked into a river cruise through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. Eventually we decided to go on an African safari after doing some research and talking to some other people who had gone on a similar trip. From all accounts, it sounded like the adventure of a lifetime!
We chose to book through Thomson Safaris, a US-based company with extensive experience planning and conducting custom safaris. Out trip takes first to Amsterdam, then on to Johannesburg, to the Manyeleti Game Reserve and the Londolozi Game Reserve, and finally to Cape Town. We return through Amsterdam once again.
You can follow our adventure on this site, where we'll be posting photos from each location along with commentary in our Blog.
We hope you enjoy it!
